EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II

MINIMUM SALARY: $1,958.00

JOB DUTIES:
Operates heavy equipment such as motor graders, heavy trucks, front-end loaders, bulldozers, oil and asphalt distributors and other equipment used in the construction and repair of county roads and bridges; maintains roads including blading, filling holes, and cleaning ditches; performs road base preparation and sub-grading prior to paving; distributes asphalt and oil to prepared road bases and seal coats roads; assists with patch sealing and pothole repair; assists in the construction, repair, and maintenance of roadside culverts; loads materials into trucks using front-end loaders.

Checks oil, water, fuel, tires, and hydraulic system to ensure equipment is in proper and safe operating condition; performs other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
One year of experience as an equipment operator, including experience in the operation of heavy road construction equipment. Requires Class A (CDL) license and X endorsement.

CORRECTIONS OFFICER

MINIMUM SALARY: $2,198.64

JOB DUTIES:
Provides direct supervision to offenders in housing, visitation, and recreation areas; escorts offenders within the Justice Center, as assigned; monitors prisoner activity, using closed circuit television systems, radios, and intercom systems; conducts cell searches, security checks, and inmate headcounts in accordance with department procedures; responds to emergencies within the jail such as assaults on officers, fires, and offender disturbances; uses appropriate levels of force through physical management of combative, volatile, and assaultive offenders; completes booking and release records, medication charts, logs, and reports; photographs and fingerprints new offenders; administers basic first aid and CPR to offenders, as needed; operates computers, office equipment, and security devices; performs other duties, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS NEEDED:
Ability to provide offender supervision and security in a corrections facility; ability to follow departmental policies and procedures and directives from supervisory staff; ability to make effective decisions in stressful situations and react quickly and calmly during emergencies; ability to manage disruptive, violent, and assaultive offenders. Ability to prepare clear and concise reports. Skill in oral/written communication and interpersonal relations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED certificate, at least 18 years of age, no criminal history, and a valid Texas Driver’s License. Must obtain basic Corrections Officer certification within one year of employment.

JP COURT CLERK I

JOB DUTIES:
Receives, dockets, and maintains civil and criminal case files; sets hearing dates and sends notices of hearings to appropriate parties; prepares and processes complaints, correspondence, forms, reports and various legal documents; answers telephone and directs call or takes messages; greets the public and provides procedural information in a professional and service-oriented manner.

Receives money and issues receipts for payments of fines and fees; assists in balancing and reconciling bank accounts and in preparing reports for submission to the Treasurer; provides Notary Public service; performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of clerical and office procedures and practices; knowledge of money handling procedures; knowledge of legal terminology; ability to operate a personal computer and related software; ability to operate a variety of office equipment; skill in oral/written communication and interpersonal relations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
One year of general office, secretarial, or equivalent experience; OR, six months of experience providing a knowledge of legal terminology and documents.
